In which I present you with a list of my recent accomplishments! Yay!

Gauntlet #11. I finished knitting the first gauntlet.

2. I applied for a job at Cambridge.

3. I wrote a letter to Brumbaugh & Quandahl, PC, LLO, Rat Bastards about the levy on my checking account, inviting them to either provide evidence that they were legally able to attach my account or to kindly get their fucking garnishment off my account and refund my NSF fees toute suite else be hearing from my lawyer.

4. I made coffee and drank it with Silk brand French Vanilla Creamer in it.

5. I read several chapters of Hyperion, and OMG it’s sooooooo good.

6. I added additional items to my Wishlist because God knows I don’t want to be at a loss when I get a job and need to start spending money again.

[Possible 7.] I’m thinking of going to the store to buy ingredients for chole (aka chana masala) (aka kabuli chana) (aka chickpea curry) because the recipe over at Dykewife’s looks freakin’ delicious.

In other news, the weather ’round here is expected to turn reeeeeeally shitty tomorrow.

CholeUpdate: I made the chole after all, and served it with rice, papadums, cottage cheese, and green chili chutney.

Instead of following a specific recipe I combined both of the linked recipes above, adding some of the pre-mixed chana masala powder I found, in the surprisingly awesome International section at Easter’s, for less than two dollars.

It was so good! I had seconds. Truck had seconds too. When AmmZon gets home, I bet she’ll also have seconds. That’s how good it is.

The curry recipe just begs to be played with 🙂 bran has been playing with it for some time. it goes great with both basmati rice and jasmine rice, though i prefer jasmine rice. bran prefers brown rice. there are other masala spice mixes that i want to try sometime. however, the only way the store sells the spice mixes is by (what appears to be) a 20 pound container (slight hyperbole) and i’d hate to have any go stale. we’ll eventually get some other mixes to try. which reminds me, we have to get more tumeric. oh, we also leave out the cilantro since I don’t like it much and it’s only sold in 40 billion pound bunches (it could happen).

Cilantro’s cheap so I don’t mind buying a large bunch and letting it go mostly to waste, but having to buy masalas in bulk when one knows she’ll never use it up before it gets old is just no good! -m

Curry recipes should always be used, especially when meat-eaters like me are out of town.

    I. Love. Curry. So. Much. -m

Nice gauntlet. Who you gonna smack around with it?

I loved Hyperion… and the second book was pretty good too, but I never delved any deeper into that universe.

You! I loved Hyperion too! -m

Okay, I have to know what gauntlet pattern you used since you begged for my help locating patterns. 🙂

I photocopied it out of a friend’s copy of an old Interweave. *blush* -m

    Well damn girl! I wish I could say it’s the last time I help you search a pattern but that would be a lie. Shoot. Okay, which issue? {sigh}

Rib-and-Cable Mitts, Spring 2006, pg. 68. I still have — and love — the list of patterns you’d researched for me! -m

I love all of Dan Simmons’ books. “Endymion” etc. are good as well, but I think that his last two, “Ilium” and “Olympos” are just stunning pieces of work.

Spice mixes can be mailed to you from Karachi. They cost about Rs. 20 (that’s 30 cents) a small box, and each one is good for about 2-3 meals, depending on how intense you want the flavours to be. Say the word… (I can also send you my mother’s recipe for cholay).

I want your mother’s recipe for cholay! And should I find I need a spice mix I can’t find here, I’ll take you up on your offer to ship. YOU ARE SO COOL. *smooch* -m
