In which I’m startin’ to miss good ol’ CAT-5.

cat5The wireless here at home sweet hotel has been sketchy. Er, maybe not ‘sketchy’ so much as ‘completely down’ for the past day and a half.

It’s back up now. FINALLY.

I have to go sketch two roofs in Xactimate now, and then finish the door hangar layout that BoSe started this morning.

But first, an update! Bread bought a tank of LP yesterday, so last night we BBQ’d. I went to the store and bought stuff for baked potatoes and a big salad, along with steaks for the boys and some salmon for PatKa and me to share. BoSe and I called everyone in the hotel we know and invited them to bring something to grill.

When I got back from the store, the room was full of men. The whole crew was here. Some had brought burgers, others beer. We cooked and ate and talked and drank and it was really fun! The guys who have been here the longest — and eating three meals a day at restaurants — were really excited to hear we’d leave the grill in the ‘yard’ outside our room and that they were free to use it at their leisure.

Anyway, off to work. Ciao, babies!

Wireless is less cool! ARE U INSANE!!!

I’m sitting here in the deep forest, using a wireless satellite connection, connected to a AP that is also a high gain antenna system and hi-speed router, with my computer conneced and on-line using a wireless hi-gain receiving antenna.

My neighbor is receiving my AP wireless signal and paying me $20 to use my satellite internet connection.

    Wireless rules!!

Wireless is sooooo cool, you must be too OLD to see that!

Say, why don’t you get the motel to let you set that damn wireless thing up so it’s on-line more often. Tell them for nothing but you would be happy if they took something off the bill.

Usually just untangling the wires, downloading all the latest drivers for the hardware and unticking some of the M$ defaults will make it more reliable.

    Just a thought.

    I’m not working here. -m

Jim’s idea is a good one. Geek out on their wireless set up.
    It’ll be fun.

Oh, hm. I thought the fun part was having Bread and BoSo call the office and monster on ’em every half hour! -m

i adore wireless. I can geek from anywhere in the house…not that i’m going to right now..long story. anyway, it’s good to see you back online. perhaps trade your geekiness to the hotel for a small refrigerator in your room. that way you have a place for leftovers and to store things like eggs and whatnot. unless you already have a fridge, in which case, nevermind.

    We have a fridge! -m

Sounds like things are going pretty well out there. I was excited to hear about you and bred at all leaping into this. That whole gig should translate pretty well to insurance adjusting if that’s what ya’ll plan on doing after this. Best of luck to ya. And have fun with it. And maybe we’ll hang out in a disaster area together this season. Peace.

    Disasters, yay! -m
