In which there’s really great news! Three times over!
Today has been the longest, slowest day ever. I’ve been here since ten and haven’t even been on the phone for two hours. It’s that dead in here.
Which means that the day has been dragging by with incredible slowness.
But when the day is over, I will officially be on vacation! Which is so awesome I can’t even express it.
But to make it all even better, this afternoon I got a job offer. And I accepted it! I GOT A NEW JOB! I GOT A NEW JOB! I GOT A NEW JOB! I GOT A NEW JOB! I GOT A NEW JOB! *snoopy dance* Whoo hoo!
Oh, and on Tuesday, my bento article will be in the paper – perhaps as the main feature in the Food & Lifestyle section of the Union-Bulletin!

The Job:
She has no idea yet!!! I work at OneEighty http://www.go180.net as a field technician/midway lvl 2 engineer and “other duties” other duties can include anything. And I really mean anything. I saw this chicks resume and was in and was surprised to see someone with her experience in Walla Walla. Her resume was super geeky. Can we say “instant Job”! I have yet to meet “Mush” but can’t wait. It will be very cool to have a G33Ky chick working there. What is really kind of cool is that she lives with her grama, who lives 3 doors down from me to the west. And even smooches free internet off my very strong, commercial quality, unprtotected wi-fi access point. Its very overkill for a residence. She will get her own very soon. totally free even, just for working there. Oh shit, I haven’t said anything about the job…I shouldn’t say anything about that its top secret s*^&.
She will be doing the same stuff at different place. Troubleshooting customer problems. The customers calls will vary from Dial up, DSL, T1, T3, even Fiber connections. A few billing calls here and there. Our customers are always nice because they know they are getting superior customer service. One big thing is that she will have access to all the backbone equipnment. We own our own network and it kicks ass!!! Equipment includes as5400, Cisco 6500 Switches,cisco 7200 routers, cisco 7500 routers, cisco 6160 dslams, Optical nodes, root access to DNS, webhosting, mail servers and all kinds of geeky shit/. Plus we’re growing, room for advancement. Tough job, but with her skills she can do it…Don’t let me Scare ya b4 u start…. lol
In this recession, we are saving people money on their phone bills and were able to do both phone and internet in one bill and back it up with some good old fashion customer care. Thats whats keeping us so busy.
There is a huge difference in the type of support/service you can give a customer when you own everything in the network instead of just reselling services.. That is what is nice about being a CLEC. I have worked here for 9.5 years, and I love this place! I’m possitive Michelle with love it here too.
She said she will be ready to start on the 6th. Were already getting her a desk with dual monitors. One for work and the other one, well, for more work lol. Will have her own personal # to her desk. But don’t call her she will be busy as hell!
Anyways congrats on the job Michelle, hope it’s what you really wanted. I’m looking forward to meeting/working with you. Yep 3 doors down and have never met. We’ll probably meet on the 6th and we will be like, “hey, neighbor!!”… lol.
We’re all looking forward to get to work with you at 180. Enjoy your vacation because you got a shitload of work to do when you get back. You’re already behind…

The job sounds awesome. But I will miss your sweet face sitting next to me everyday! And your dog too! Your job sounds totally worth the discomfort I will face when you leave me treading in the pool of testosterone. I really missed you today and your just on vacation!!! I had to share my “I had sex in his parent’s bathroom and then he left me there with his Dad while he went to the store” story with Matt. Not the same!!!

Pam. She a sweetie, she takes care of all my dsl orders and creates accounts and services for me so that I can complete installs in a timely manner. She’s awesome. She also does lot more. Stuff that i can’t even do like print bills and office duties.
Tracy, She is in our NOC. You will be working with her. She is a rockstar tech and has come a long way in the network side of things. I think I can say she is the most improved. She is super nice lady that sometimes gets the rudest assholes on the phone. (it happens to the ladies) She handles it very well and I dont know how she does it, but remains really kind to people on the phone. Go Tracy!!
Nichole, She’s cool too. Orders all the major loops, takes care of billing and collection. She is awesome and hardworking.
Kim, she does billing stuff from home. But she is cool too…
