In which I update you on how ineffably fun lunch can be if you have a bentÅ box to put it in!
One morning last week I was in the kitchen packing my lunch and my brother walked in. He watched me in silence for a moment, and then intoned, “Food hobby.”
And that’s exactly what it is: a food hobby! It’s somehow much more fun to pack a lunch in a bentÅ box. I can look at pictures of bentÅs on the Internet all day long. I can surf for bentÅ boxes for hours. I have collected a list of Japanese recipe URLs as long as your arm. I’ve been making friends on Flickr with other bentÅ makers. BentÅ is the crack rock of luncheon!

So those little bottles like the wasabi pig… did those come with your bento or from some corner of jbox.com? I’d look into it myself, but work filters out jbox.com because it’s tagged as “Lingerie and Swimsuit.”
That’d be because jbox.com sells manga. Diiiiirty, fun, awesome manga. I got the bottles from jbox here. There are also some at this eBay store (but that package contains pig-shapes only; the jbox one has fish and cylinders too). There are more cute sauce bottles here. -m
