Today is the first day of my vacation!

Well, actually I had Saturday, Sunday, and Monday off just like everyone else, but I spent that time doing every chore I could think of so Mr. Brett won’t have to, you know, like, think or do anything for himself while I’m gone. (Snort!)

Actually, to be honest, on Saturday I took valium and held the couch down. It was lovely. My anxiety was high, A.F. had arrived with her lovely offspring Cramps, and I was exhausted… so a valium and a couch and a knitting project was all I needed from the world.

Sunday and Monday I did chores. Monday I did a bajillion chores: umpteen loads of laundry, grocery shopping, bought pet food (since Brett’ll run out in a day or two), bought a suitcase (I had become so sick of travelling in duffel bags), cleaned the house, helped my low-tech husband surf at eBay Motors, cooked, packed, cleared the fridge of mystery items, showed Brett all the instant food I’d bought for him, worked on another knitting project, and did some other stuff too.

Today I’m going to Mt. Pleasant for Amma prep; tomorrow She’ll be here! Two days of seeing Mother in Iowa, then a day for driving to Chicago, then two more days of darshan there… I love July. I’m so excited to see Amma tomorrow. I get to do pada puja again this year. The first year She came to Iowa I got to do it (it’s awarded by lottery) so I’m really surprized to find myself doing it again. This year I’ll be doing the garlanding. Yay!

Today is a schlepping day. I’m schlepping all my crap to Fairfield, then getting Anna and possibly schlepping her and her crap to Mt. P (we haven’t decided if we’re staying there or driving back and forth yet). Christina will be schlepping herself, her daughter, and a huge amount of seva desk crap: laptop, printer, pens, paper, badges, assignments, clipboards, etc. etc. etc. Basically you need everything you’d need in a regular office, but you have to carry it all!

At 12:30 we’ll all be at seva registration, which means signing folks up as they arrive for their dorms or to help with setup. We should get lots of jobs filled this way.

Anyway, I should go make a last sweep to be sure I packed properly, then head townward. I’ll try to post but I’ll probably be offline until next Tuesday.

Ciao, lovies!
