Big sites everybody's been using forEVER that I'm just getting around to checking out

On playing with the innernizzle.

Today I played with Newsgator and then with Flickr.

Newsgator is cute and I’m going to try it out. So far I’ve tried Kinja and Bloglines and they both have really cool features but they both really pretty much suck at the same time. I realize that it’s a lot of information to present, but how hard can it be to build a simple interface for aggregation? I can’t seem to figure out how to export my OPML file(s) from either of my current aggregators, so we’ll see how it goes.

Since I run my own gallery application here at goblinbox, I never had any need for flickr but today I tried out their mosaic tool (thanks, 80) and ended up using my Y! login to set up a flickr account, blah blah blah.

I’ve had a bit of envy when visiting blogs with cute flickr mosaics in their sidebars… Thinking on it, though, my own gallery software has feeds so I could probably do the same stuff with it. Hmm.

In other news, I created and uploaded a favicon today but it’s not working in Firefox.

Please don’t hate me because I’m smarter than you.

Blogger Verification

God damn it!

If you’re a Blogger and/or Blogspot user and I read your blog, I probably tried to comment on your blog today. But since I’ve been getting the exact same identical word verification image for several hours now (even through restarting my browser and everything!), I haven’t been able to comment.

Blogger doesn’t mention that this is a bug, but I’m betting it is. I mean, the whole rest of the intarweb’s working for me, images and all.

I’m curious. Any Blogger users out there (who have word verification turned on) who are actually receiving comments this afternoon?

RANTS IS BACK!!!

I’ve made an executive decision, and rants is back! Visit Rants 8 now! Yes, you have to register again. No, I didn’t salvage the content from Rants 7. Yes, it’ll be wonderful anway. No, I don’t care about losing all of our content again. (Actually, it’s not lost. I know right where it is.)

Oh, just go register and start ranting, will you?

Firefoxy

I formatted my hard disk and reinstalled Windows yesterday. My applications are all backed up onto my work computer, which is at work, of course, so I bit the bullet and booted up Internet Explorer and went to catch up on my blog reading.

The internizze is ugly with IE.

My blog looks okay, but not a lovely as it should. Lots of CSS-driven sites render strangely in IE. Kinja looks weird. It’s just wrong.

Please, if you haven’t already, switch to Firefox!

GeoURL ICBM Address Server

Okay, okay, okay, y’all must hop quick like a bunny over to GeoURL, add your site, and find out who your meatspace neighbors are!

These are mine. So fun!

(Well, it’s fun in Iowa, ’cause there’s no one here. If you live in Cali or something, it might not be that amusing. But don’t be a dick, add your site anyway.)

Internet Exploder Shoots Own Foot

Ooh! Neat! Even in future versions, Internet Explorer will continue to suck!

“Microsoft doesn’t plan to fully support the latest CSS standard in IE 7.0. Instead of using well-established Web standards, IE 7.0 will continue to foist proprietary technologies on Web developers, forcing them to choose between two competing ways of creating Web sites. “In IE 7.0, we will fix as many of the worst bugs that Web developers hit as we can, and we will add the critical most-requested features from the standards as well,” Wilson said. “Our intent is to build a platform that fully complies with the appropriate Web standards…”

“Appropriate” Web standards? Pah.
