Sizes: S, (M, L) Circumference: 18” (20”, 22”)

Pattern

  1. With #9 needle and 3 strands of yarn, cast on 60 (66, 72) stitches.
  2. Work in K3, P3 ribbing for 4”.
  3. Change to #10-1/2 needle and work in St st until piece measures 7-1/2” (7-3/4”, 8”) from cast-on edge, ending on a WS row.
  4. Then work as follows:
    Row 1: *K5, K2tog* across row.
    Rows 2, 4, 6, 8, & 10: Purl.
    Row 3: *K4, K2tog* across row.
    Row 5: *K3, K2tog* across row.
    Row 7: *K2, K2tog* across row.
    Row 9: *K1, K2tog* across row.
    Row 11: *K2tog* across row.
  5. Cut yarn leaving 12” tail. With a yarn needle, thread the yard tail through the remaining loops on the needle. Sew seam of hat on RS until 2” remain, put yarn throught to wrong side and sew remaining 2” on the WS, of the hat. This is done so you can’t see a seam when you fold up the brim of the hat.
