The Jeep’s got a new problem: the steering wheel doesn’t return. Know how when you turn your vehicle around a corner, the wheels want to return to center? Well, mine don’t now. It’s strange, and the Jeep’s a bit of a handful if it’s windy. I guess I’ll be taking it back into the shop again in a few weeks when I’ve got the cash.

Got my first DirecTV bill and the Starz package, which is supposed to be free for a month, isn’t. Now I have to call them. Why can’t companies get shit right the first time, I ask you?

Shiva’s got an appointment to get fixed this Thursday. We don’t know when it happened, but he ripped a couple of new holes in Stella late last week. The dogs are seperated when we’re not home, and are almost never alone – even outside. If they are, it’s only for a few minutes. We’re almost always out with them. Neither of us heard or noticed a fight, but Stella’s got the healing scabs to prove it. One, on her side, is pretty terrible – there’s a flap of skin missing the size of two quarters. I feel bad getting Shiva fixed, since he’s a mature animal and it will cause havoc with his hormones and he’ll probably get fat… but I guess at least we’ll be able to put all three of them on diet food then. Sigh.

Friday I worked my butt off and dusted and swept and mopped and cleaned and took out garbage etc. etc. etc. By Monday morning, you almost couldn’t tell that I’d spent hours cleaning floors. Over the weekend, I did a massive amount of laundry (so much that, folded, it covered half of our king-sized bed). My kitchen is virtually spotless. It’s nice to hang out in clean spaces, but honestly – a clean house isn’t as satisfying as it should be, considering the amount of work it requires to get and keep it that way.

On a friend’s recommendation, I bought a bottle of Kaboom, and not only is it purple but it works great. We have hard water, so the kitchen and bathroom fixtures are always crusty and it’s hard to get them clean. This stuff disolves it, though, so my toilet is free of stains for the first time in years. (Took three applications, and I had to drain the bowl so it wouldn’t be too diluted, but it worked fairly well.) I’ve scrubbed the hell out of it with Comet, and even bleached it – yes, I know, that’s environmentally horrible but the thing was brown and disgusting – and nothing ever worked. So it’s nice to find a product that works and it’s horribly toxic.

I emailed Kathy about my thyroid suspicions and she suggested I go off supplements until my doc says otherwise, so I’ve been off them for almost a week. I think the anxiety is coming back, but it’s hard to tell. Is it worry, or is it anxiety? Am I having more than I did a few weeks ago, or am I genuinely more stressed? Etc. Fucking pain in the ass, is what it is! I’m going to try to get an appointment with Dr. England next week, soon’s there’s some cash around to do it with. I’m going to ask to speak directly to him before I schedule an appointment, though – I see no reason at all to pay $75 or whatever to go sit in his office and have him tell me there’s nothing wrong with me. Snark.

Brett had Friday off and mowed the hell out of the property. It looks great. Joe tuned our riding mower for us, and now it makes an excellent backfire pop when you turn it off! I love it.

God, my life is bland. I’m literally wracking my brain for stuff to blog about! I mean, “My house is clean, I did lots of dishes and laundry, and my yard is mowed” is hardly interesting reading material! You poor goblinboxers, I’ve been failing you miserably in the blog category for months now. I could tell you I got laid four times this weekend – would that help?

Oh! We bought a clipper at Walmart and shaved Mr. Brett’s head! That’s news, right? He doesn’t really look much different, but his hair is soft to the touch now because it’s too short to have much construction debris stick to it. He says his head is cooler, and I guess that’s the point. I never did finish up with cleaning up the sides and the back, so it’s all fuzzy and crooked, but it’s Brett after all, a man who is never seen in public in clean clothes, so it hardly matters right? LOL!

We almost went to Anamosa Sunday, to see people ride dirt bikes up steep inclines, but we chose instead to hold the couch down. (Whew.) We almost went to 1-Stop’s Grand Opening Saturday, and in fact had every intention of doing so, but somehow it went from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM without our knowing and we blew it off. I believe we probably blew off another thing or two this weekend as well, but sometimes you just gotta stay home and hang out with your spouse and eat tuna sandwiches and chips, and drink lots of lemonade, and watch the TV carefully to make sure it doesn’t escape.

Brady brought Brett home after work yesterday evening, and I swear his little dog Mia grew two inches in a week and a half! She’s an utterly spastic little puppy and quite adorable.

Now it’s 1:10 and I’m really hungry, but I don’t want to eat anything in Fairfield. Could someone warp me to Chicago for lunch?
