If you’re going to have a houseguest, have one that cooks. One that cooks well.

Brett and Mike went to the store last weekend, and came home with some groceries. (Mike shops.) Among the groceries they bought, two packages of four cheese tortellini.

Yesterday morning, Mike asked if I could bring home a few things, so he could make a sauce that night for dinner.

After leaving LISCO, I stopped at Hy-Vee (where I saw my M-I-L: Hi, Barb!) for tomatoes, basil, coconut milk, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar.

When I got home, Mike made pasta sauce while I made garlic bread and salad.

DINNER WAS SO GOOD! Oh my God, it’s just really nice to have a chef as a houseguest! The sauce was creamy and rich and tomato-ey and generally fabulous; I want to eat the rest as leftovers for dinner tonight!

To balance out the praise, however, I must point out that while Gomez is a gifted cook, he’s also a total mess in the kitchen. “Don’t worry, I’ll clean up after myself,” he says.

Hah.

I cleaned that damn kitchen, that’s what happened. But it was worth it ’cause dinner was so delish.

NEVER let someone who is used to cooking in a commercial kitchen near your own home kitchen!!! My advice.
Dudes who are used to a clean up staff are generally not good at watching what kind of hellish mess they are making (my dear brother and SE are prime examples). If the end product is good, it’s a little easier to forgive.

    P.S. like the new look!

Thanks, I’ve been playing with Movabletype ALL DAY and haven’t gotten a thing done at work.

I figured out how to import some old blog entries, but I don’t know how to make it import old comments. Sigh.

But now I can host blogs; if anyone wants their own goblinbox.com blog, do tell and I’ll hook you up with the news.

Hey, it’s looking good! 🙂 It took me an entire day to install movable type and import all my blog entries. I think it’s a job well done. Drinks all around! 😉
